Best Practices

  • Place cuts at natural pauses or zero crossings when possible to reduce clicks and abrupt transitions.
  • Leave a small amount of room before speech begins and after it ends so words do not feel clipped.
  • Preview several seconds around both cut points with headphones before exporting.
  • Keep the original recording, because trimmed audio cannot restore removed sections.
  • Use fades when the source begins or ends with sustained sound and the tool supports them.

MP3 encoding in the browser without a heavy library (LAME) isn't practical. WAV is universally supported and lossless. You can re-encode to MP3 with our future MP3 encoder, or use a desktop tool.

Yes. Decoding to PCM and re-encoding as WAV is lossless, you only lose information when you re-encode to a lossy format like MP3 / AAC.
